PILLA Progressive is a lens technology developed by PILLA and ZEISS that integrates both Chromashift and Infrared lens technology. The keyword here is gradient. This lens family offers athletes three distinct advantages over the standard ICE lens:
1. improved depth of field, 2. optimized color management, and 3. "Live Light" management.
The new lens design offers variable color filtering as well as multiple color curves within a single lens. Through the Chromashift IR design, the lens focuses variance within a tighter spectral range of the color curves. Compared to the original design, the top-to-bottom change in the lens has been reduced.
This new variation in filtration and light transmission allows the eye to achieve its maximum focal potential while simultaneously achieving variable filter saturation. The result is sharp distance vision, high image clarity, and the ability for the wearer to instantly adjust light transmission depending on the viewing angle through the lens.
New robust depth of field enhancement
The PILLA ZEISS progressive lenses create a situation where additional light is directed into the eye from the bottom of the lens. This results in an artificial narrowing of the iris, improving the eye's depth perception. This effect is similar to changing the aperture of a camera lens to achieve a longer focal length. Adjusting the iris allows for precise definition of the sight image, which is crucial in sport shooting to correctly estimate speed, trajectory and distance.
Infrared color management
Each of the PILLA ZEISS lenses features multiple filter curves in a single lens, thanks to our patented ICE infrared filter enhancers. By introducing a higher and a lower transmission curve in the same lens, the eye can effectively use color saturation to actively control image sharpness. For target shooters, the ability to "tune" the visual intensity of the target is particularly evident.

The PILLA ZEISS ICE Progressive lenses allow the athlete to dynamically change the visual image through both filtering and light management. Depending on where the eyes look through the lens, the entire visual image changes instantly. This allows the wearer to change the way the visual image looks in real time. This offers a huge advantage in precise target acquisition.
